<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device capable of achieving a high display contrast.SOLUTION: The display device includes: plural display cells 3 formed between a front-side substrate 1 and a rear-side substrate 2 facing each other; and each of the display cells 3 having two kinds of display particles 7 and 8 of a different color and different charging characteristic disposed thereon The electrode 6 formed on the rear-side substrate 2 is constituted of two divided electrodes 6a and 6b. The electrode 6 is configured so as, in a state that display particles 7 and 8 are moved onto the rear-side substrate 2 having the divided electrodes 6a and 6b, to perform a first operation in which an alternating electric field is generated between the divided electrodes 6a and 6b to thereby repeatedly move the display particles 7 and 8; and after the first operation, a second operation in which display particles 7 and 8, each of which are different in charged state, are selectively attracted to the electrode 5 on the front-side substrate 1 by applying a first voltage corresponding to the display across the electrode 5 on the front-side substrate 1 and the electrode 6 of the rear-side substrate 2.</p> |
