PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of screening an improving agent of skin barrier function that decreases due to ultraviolet and aging, and a more effective skin barrier function improving agent.SOLUTION: A method of screening skin barrier function improving agent comprises using cultured epidermal keratinocytes obtained from donors of young humans and old humans, and comparing expression levels of genes expressing in cultured epidermal keratinocytes obtained from donors of old humans and genes expressing in cultured epidermal keratinocytes obtained from donors of young humans, using, as an indicator, expression levels of hyaluronic acid synthesis-related genes, expression levels of hyaluronic acid receptor-related genes, and expression levels of hyaluronic acid degradation-related genes that are expressed in cultured epidermal keratinocytes due to ultraviolet irradiation. |
