PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-soluble yellow pigment (compound) that has high solubility in water, and is superior in a variety of fastness such as water resistance, humidity resistance, ozone gas resistance, wear resistance and light resistance, particularly superior in ozone gas resistance, and provide a yellow ink composition containing the same and used for a variety of recording, particularly inkjet recording.SOLUTION: This invention provides a water-soluble azo compound represented by the formula (1) or salt thereof. In the formula (1), Q represents a halogen atom, x represents an integer of 2 to 4, and Y represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an amino group, a cyano group, a hydroxy group, a carboxy group, a sulfo group, a sulfamoyl group, an N-alkylaminosulfonyl group, an N-phenylaminosulfonyl group, a (C1-C4) alkylsulfonyl group which may be substituted with a hydroxy group, or the like. |
