PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an HCCI engine enabling self-ignition control in a way that the temperature of a combustion chamber can be set to a maximum value after a piston passes a top dead center.SOLUTION: An HCCI engine is an internal combustion engine in which fuel in a combustion chamber 2 is compressed in the compression process of a piston 3, and is ignited automatically. The HCCI engine is configured to reduce the volume of the combustion chamber 2 at the same time when the piston 3 passes a top dead center.
