PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure a shear yield load by avoiding early shear buckling of a web and improve plastic deformation capacity in a structural member having flanges on both ends of a web receiving shear bending.SOLUTION: A full view of a typical reinforcing structure where circular rings 3 are spliced to web surfaces in a structural member having flanges 2 on the tops and bottoms of webs 1, is shown by figure (a) as an oblique perspective figure. The continuous circular rings 3 and vertical stiffeners 4 between them are installed to connect the upper and lower flanges 2. Balance of in-plane stresses is shown in figure (b). Compression principal stress -σ, shown by a dot arrow, in accordance with in-plane shear is balanced with a member axial forceσof the circular ring in an area inside the circular ring to form a tension field in which tensile principal stress +σ, shown by a solid arrow, dominates. A tensile surface is formed from an initial stage of force application to ensure a shear yield load of the web 1, and truss balance field is formed by the flanges 2 and the vertical stiffeners 3 surrounding the circular rings 3 to stably maintain proof stress even after shear yield to improve plastic deformation capacity.
|
