The device (600) has two electrodes (603,604) in contact with respective faces of a solid electrolyte (612). Upper electrode supplies mobile ions towards inert lower electrode so as to form a conductive filament between the electrodes, when a voltage is applied between the electrodes. Upper electrode made of soluble material is a confinement electrode that comprises an end surface in contact with the electrolyte which is less than available surface of the electrolyte, so as to obtain confinement of a contact area of confinement electrode on the electrolyte. An independent claim is included for a method of manufacture of electronic device.
