A propulsion device for a ship and a ship having the same are disclosed. The propulsion device for a ship according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a main drive shaft connected to a driving source; a rotary shaft which is connected to the main drive shaft and has a rear end extended to the rear of a hull; a coupling device which connects the main drive shaft and the rotary shaft to each other; a rear propeller fixed to the rear of the rotary shaft; a front propeller which is supported to the rotary shaft in front of the rear propeller to be rotated; a counter rotating device which is installed on the rear of the hull and reverses the rotation of the rotary shaft to transfer the reversed rotation to the front propeller; and one or more bearings which support the rotary shaft between the counter rotating device and the coupling device. The rear end of the main drive shaft and the front end of the rotary shaft are separated from each other in a width larger than the width of the bearing and are connected to each other by the coupling device.
