The device (1) has two drum-like slitting aggregates (4a,4b), which carries circumferential slitting knife (5). A drive unit (11) is provided for the slitting aggregates. The slitting aggregates are arranged in axial direction one behind the other. One slitting aggregate is mounted on a shaft (7) which is guided in a hollow shaft carrying the other slitting aggregate. The drive unit is formed for a counter-rotational movement of the two slitting aggregates. The drive unit has two motors for driving the shaft and the hollow shaft.
