A liquid crystal display device comprises a lower substrate, a upper substrate, and a liquid crystal layer. The lower substrate includes an insulating substrate, a first electrode, an insulating layer disposed on the first electrode, a second electrode, and a third electrode. The first electrode is disposed on the insulating substrate and includes a first sub-electrode. The second electrode is disposed on the insulating layer and includes a second sub-electrode which overlaps with the first sub-electrode. The third electrode is disposed on the insulating layer and includes a third sub-electrode which does not overlap with the first sub-electrode and is spaced apart from the second sub-electrode. According to the liquid crystal display device, stain visibility due to difference in transmittance of each adjacent pixel in a low gray level is improved. |
