The present invention includes the steps of acquiring prediction mode information of a current block from a bitstream; determining prediction motion vector candidates from motion vectors of surrounding blocks of the current block if the prediction mode of the current block is an inter prediction mode; determining a prediction motion vector of the current block among prediction motion vector candidates; and acquiring a motion vector of the current block based on a difference vector acquired from the prediction motion vector and the bitstream. For the image decoding method of the present invention, surrounding blocks comprise a first block located at the bottom left of the current block; a second block located at the upper part of the first block; a third block located at the top right of the current block; a fourth block located on the left side of the third block; and a fifth block located at the top left of the current block.
