In an arc-chute similar to that of Specification 702,834, an insulating plate 2 having a pointed lower end 17 is arranged in the space between adjacent plates 1 carrying the conductive members 11. The end 17 of the plate 2 is chamfered at 18 and the plate 2 may have openings therethrough to equalise the pressures on both sides thereof.
