The present invention relates to a vertical machining center having a vertical plate for vertically sliding a grip bar on a moving line for allowing a column to move, and a tool exchange method using the same. The vertical machining center comprises a bed; a column to be moved on the top of the bed along a Y-axis; a spindle part having a spindle on one side of the column to be slid along a Z-axis; a tool magazine which is connected to a rotating chain in a space inside the column and which has multiple grip bars outside of chain; and a vertical plate for vertically sliding the grip bar of the tool magazine. The present invention extends a service life of the vertical machining center, and the spindle and the column as an important factor for operating the vertical machining center by minimizing the movement of the spindle and the column; and reduces additional costs for the spindle and the column. |
