The present invention relates to an indoor unit for an air-conditioner. The indoor unit according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a body forming an appearance; an indoor heat exchanger provided in the body; a plurality of branch pipes guiding a refrigerant fed to the indoor heat exchanger; a circulation pipe connected to the branch pipe to guide the refrigerant; a bypass pipe connecting some of the branch pipes and the circulation pipe; and a branch pipe valve provided at some of the branch pipes to control the refrigerant flowing in some of the branch pipes. Some of the branch pipes have a diameter smaller than that of the remaining branch pipes. In a cooling mode, the refrigerant is fed to the indoor heat exchanger via some of the branch pipes from the circulation pipe, while in a heating mode, the refrigerant is discharged from the indoor heat exchanger via the bypass pipe to the circulation pipe. Therefore, since the quantity of the refrigerant guided is guided according to the vertical position of the heat exchanger, the efficiency of the heat exchange is improved, and thus the performance of the heat exchanger is improved. Also, the flow path of the refrigerant to optimize the cooling is designed to improve the efficiency of the cooling. At the time of the heating operation, since the refrigerant is bypassed via the bypass pipe, it is possible to prevent the refrigerant from being gathered due to the design to optimize the cooling. |
