A method for calculating contact point coordinates of a pointing device having a circulation arrangement type touch pad can accurately calculate the contact point coordinates of a contact point even when a contact object contacts the space between the touch pads of a touch sensor. Further, a method for calculating the point displacement of the pointing device having the circulation arrangement type touch pad can output high resolution point displacement since the method for calculating the point displacement of the pointing device having the circulation arrangement type touch pad outputs the point displacement using the contact point coordinates calculated by the method for calculating the contact point coordinates of the pointing device having the circulation arrangement type touch pad. The method for calculating the point displacement of the pointing device having the circulation arrangement type touch pad can output accurate point displacement corresponding to the contact displacement of the touch sensor by calculating the point displacement with the accumulated variation amount of the contact coordinates.
