The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for measuring a gauge and a cant using a laser gun and a grid reflection plate. Without using a traditional track inspector, a laser gun is installed on a first rail, and a grid reflection plate is installed on the inner side of a second rail so as to simply measure a gauge, a transverse distance between the first and second rails, and a cant, a difference in transverse heights between the first and second rails. Moreover, according to another technical objective of the present invention, by using a laser gun, a satisfactory visibility can be provided, and the measurement of the gauge and cant can be facilitated.
