APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR TREATMENT WASTEWATER

Provided is a means for rapidly performing and stably continuing a treatment using anaerobic ammonia oxidation which is performed in treating nitrogen-containing wastewater. The wastewater treatment method used herein includes: a nitrous acid type oxidation step for oxidizing a part of ammonia nitrogen contained in wastewater into nitrite nitrogen in the presence of anaerobic ammonia oxidation bacteria; a dilution water supply step for supplying the oxidized wastewater with dilution water which reduces at least one of the concentration of the nitrite nitrogen and the concentration of the dissolved oxygen in the wastewater; and a denitrification step for converting the ammonia nitrogen and the nitrite nitrogen contained in the oxidized wastewater to nitrogen gas in the presence of the anaerobic ammonia oxidation bacteria.
