The present invention relates to an axial flux permanent magnet (AFPM) generator for a small wind turbine. The AFPM generator comprises: multiple slots formed into a disc shape within a housing and arranged at both sides along a circumference; a stator with the slots wound with a coil; a shaft mounted to be rotatable with respect to the housing while passing the center of the stator within the housing; a first rotor coupled to the shaft at a side of the stator and including permanent magnets, situated at a first surface facing the stator of a first disc, with the poles alternately arranged to be spaced apart from each other along the circumference; a second rotor coupled to the shaft at the other side of the stator and including permanent magnets, situated at a second surface facing the stator of a second disc, with the poles alternately arranged to be spaced apart from each other along the circumference; wherein permanent magnets adjoining the first surface among the permanent magnets of the first rotor have different arc lengths to have different surface areas such that cogging torque can be offset, and permanent magnets adjoining the second surface among the permanent magnets of the second rotor have different arc lengths to have different surface areas such that cogging torque can be offset. According to the present invention, the AFPM generator for a wind turbine can reduce cogging torque while having a core, thereby improving the efficiency of generation. |
