The present invention relates to a reinforcing bar coupler which comprises a coupling body which is made of a metal material and provided with a lower plate positioned in a horizontal, back-and-forth direction and side plates bent upwardly from the right and left sides of the lower plate, wherein the right and left side plates have side holes in the center parts thereof, and a metal tightening member which is integrally fixated in the center part of the upper side of the lower plate provided on the coupling body and which is positioned in a straight line in parallel to the side holes of the right and left side plates. In the coupling body, two reinforcing bars are spaced at a predetermined interval on the right and left sides of the tightening member on the lower plate between the right and left side plates. When the right and left side plates are pressed from both sides with the two reinforcing bars interposed in the coupling body and then the upper parts are pressed and bent inward, the open top of the coupling body is covered by the right and left side plates; the two reinforcing bars interposed in the coupling body become close to each other while the bent parts thereof in contact with the tightening member are hung and coupled by protruding out of the side holes of the right and left side plates; and both upper ends of the right and left side plates become close to each other and are welded to form a welded part, so that the two reinforcing bars interposed in the coupling body are firmly connected and fixed. |
