The present invention relates to a mobile terminal and a control method thereof to prevent exposure of data by reducing side visibility of some parts of an output image of the mobile terminal. More specifically, provided is a mobile terminal, comprising a memory for storing data; a display unit for displaying information; and a control unit for controlling application of a software filter to at least some parts of an output screen of the display unit to reduce side visibility of the display unit.
