METHOD FOR REMOVING NUTRIENTS FROM WASTEWATER BY MEANS OF PHOTOBIOTREATMENT WITH PHOTOSYNTHETIC MICROORGANISMS

The invention relates to a method for removing nutrients from wastewater by means of photobiotreatment with photosynthetic microorganisms. The invention consists of a method comprising the use of two reactors, namely: a contact reactor in which the biomass is separated from the water using a submerged membrane filtration process; and a second growth reactor (photobioreactor) in which the growth of the biomass is promoted at the sole expense of the reserves stored in the contact reactor. With this method the treatment can be performed continuously both day and night, thanks to its two operating modes, i.e.: day mode, in which the concentrated stream leaving the contact reactor is conveyed to the photobioreactor and recirculated to the contact reactor from the photobioreactor; and night mode, in which the concentrated stream leaving the contact reactor is purged and recirculated from the day purge tank of the photobioreactor.
