An information processing method and system for a 6lowpan extension field. The method comprises: when context information update occurs in a 6lowpan extension field, triggering a multi-source synchronization mechanism, so as to accomplish synchronization of context value information and time among a plurality of border routes; and at least one border route delivering updated context information inside the 6lowpan extension field. The information processing method for a 6lowpan extension field proposed in the embodiment of the present invention is completely based on the neighbor discovery protocol standard draft proposed by the IETF organization, and has high feasibility and wide applicability; also, it can solve the problem of how to ensure the consistency of delivered context information in the case of a plurality of border routes inside a 6lowpan extension field.
