The exchanger (1) has an adjustable heat exchanger surface and a heat exchange unit formed with heat exchange elements (2-3). Transmission of heat energy is gradually switched on and off between heat exchanger flowing media and other media by the heat exchange surface. The heat exchange elements are formed of heat exchange tubes, which are arranged parallel to each other, together secured and positioned in a heat exchanger space. The heat exchanger tubes comprise circular cross-sectional channels. The heat exchange unit includes multiple valves (4-3) of digital type. An independent claim is also included for a method for heating/cooling of a component of a process interface.
