The present invention is a work device comprising a base member, a work member, a drive unit, and a work control unit. The work control unit has: a switching setting means that sets a switching position part way along the length of a stroke in which a work member expands and contracts, from a reference position to a work position, and sets a coarse-movement drive area and a low-speed drive area; a coarse-movement control means that controls the expansion/contraction speed of the work member in the coarse-movement drive area to a high speed and suppresses vibration; a low-speed control means that controls the expansion/contraction speed of the work member in the low-speed drive area to a low speed and controls the work member to expand/contract to/from the work position once said speed has dropped to no more than a rated speed; and a switching adjustment means that adjusts such that the expansion/contraction speed and the acceleration change smoothly when the work member passes through the switching position. As a result, the expansion/contraction speed of the work member is increased, work time is reduced, the impact load when the work member comes in contact with a work object is reduced, and work position precision is maintained. |
