PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element with high light emitting performance and reliability.SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent element has an organic light emitting body 8 including: a substrate 1; a first electrode 5; an organic emitting layer 6; a second electrode 7 which are formed in this order. The organic electroluminescent element includes: a net-like auxiliary electrode 3 which is disposed in contact with the first electrode 5; an organic light emitting body 8; and a translucent light extraction part 2 between the substrate 1 and the net-like auxiliary electrode 3. The light extraction part 2 has a first refractive index layer 2a and a second refractive index layer 2b which have a refractive index different from each other in this order from the substrate 1. An uneven structure 4 is partially formed on the boundary between the first refractive index layer 2a and the second refractive index layer 2b. The auxiliary electrode 3 is disposed in a position which does not overlap with a region where the uneven structure 4 is formed as viewed from the top.
