<p>PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for separating copper from an insoluble communication cable are provided to reduce the maintenance cost because a solvent for insulator removal can be used repetitively. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for separating copper from an insoluble communication cable comprises a cutter(100), a reactor(120), a copper drying unit(180), and a solvent separator(192). The cutter cuts a cable, from which the outer sheath is cut out, to a regular length. The reactor mixes the cut cable with the solvent heated to the specified temperature in order to remove the remaining cable insulator from the surface of copper. The copper drying unit dries and compresses the copper coming out from the reactor into the specified volume. The solvent separator cools the solvent coming out from the reactor through a cooling tank to the specified temperature and collects with the centrifugal force the cooled solvent to be reused.</p> |
