Provided is a slide fastener manufacturing method which can efficiently manufacture a slide fastener in which retainers formed by heat treatment are formed at opposite ends of the slide fastener in the longitudinal direction thereof. A slide fastener manufacturing method is provided with: a slit forming step for forming slits (18) in a continuous fastener chain (10) at predetermined intervals in the longitudinal direction thereof; a slider insertion step for inserting a pair of left and right fastener element rows (14) of the continuous fastener chain (10) into sliders (60A, 60B) by inserting the sliders (60A, 60B) into the slits (18); and a cutting step for forming slide fasteners (11) having a predetermined length by thermally melting and cutting the continuous fastener chain (10) at positions in front of and behind each of the slits (18) of the continuous fastener chain (10). In the cutting step, the cut edges of the pair of left and right fastener tapes (12) of the continuous fastener chain (10) and the cut edges of the pair of left and right fastener element rows (14) are welded together. |
