RADIATION CURABLE SUPERCOATINGS FOR MULTIMODE OPTICAL FIBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for formulating radiation curable Supercoatings(R) for application to an optical fiber used in a telecommunications network.SOLUTION: The Supercoatings include at least two layers: a first layer is a primary coating in contact with an outer layer surface of an optical fiber; and a second layer is a secondary coating in contact with an outer surface of the primary coating. The cured primary coating on the optical fiber shows specific characteristics after initial cure and after aging for at least one month at 85°C and 85% relative humidity.
