When a vehicle does not start after a predetermined stand-by time has elapsed from when the vehicle is enabled to start, a driver of the vehicle is issued with a start prompting notice. When a trailing vehicle is detected while the vehicle is stopped, a vehicle stopping mode of the trailing vehicle coming to a stop is detected, and the mode of the start prompting notice is determined in accordance with the vehicle stopping mode of the trailing vehicle. When a driver of the trailing vehicle is in a hurry, that would influence the vehicle stopping mode. Thus, by determining the mode of the start prompting notice in accordance with the vehicle stopping mode of the trailing vehicle, the start prompting notice can be issued appropriately in accordance with the psychological state of the driver of the trailing vehicle. |
