A radial artery hemostat and a method for operating the radial artery hemostat. The radial artery hemostat comprises a wristlet (1) and an electronic part (2) for controlling the wristlet (1), and further comprises a fixing member (3). The wristlet (1) comprises a bandage (4) connected to the fixing member (3) and an airbag (5) fixed on the bandage (4). The wristlet (1) is detachably fixed on the electronic part (2) through the fixing member (3). The radial artery hemostat is fixed to an arm of a person through the bandage (4). The airbag (5) is controlled by the electronic part (2) to automatically inflate or deflate. The radial artery hemostat is capable of performing automatic pressure application and timed pressure relief after a diagnosis and treatment surgery based on vascular intervention via radial artery, allows quantitative setting of pressure values, and can be partially recycled, thereby effectively reducing the production cost and the disinfection cost.
