PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nanofiber having high fiber properties with &bgr;-1,3-glucan as a raw material.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for producing a nanofiber made of a plurality of single fibers composed by &bgr;-1,3-glucan with a triple helix structure. The method comprises an aggregation step in which &bgr;-1,3-glucan in the form of a single strand is aggregated in an aqueous aggregation liquid containing no alkali or containing alkali at a concentration of 0.2 M or lower and whose pH les in the range of 5.0 to 13.5 to form the nanofiber.
