PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expansion type steel pipe pile that can increase the bearing force of a pile, and a driving method for the expansion type steel pipe pile.SOLUTION: An expansion type steel pipe pile 10 for a small-scale structure includes: a cylindrical metallic main body 11 having both ends closed; at least one groove part 11d which extends in the axial direction of the main body 11 and is formed by hollowing a peripheral wall 11a of the main body 11 inward; and a water pouring hole 12a which is formed in one end of the main body 11 and links the outside of the main body 11 to the inside. The main body 11 can expand by extending the groove part 11d as the internal space 11e of the main body 11 is pressurized so as to increase the diameter of the main body 11.
