PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an OCT technique configured to enable high-resolution measurement even when optical loss exists due to a medium.SOLUTION: An optical image forming apparatus divides light output from a light source unit into signal light and reference light, and detects interference light to be obtained by superimposing the signal light having passed through an object on the reference light, to form a tomographic image of the object on the basis of the detection result. The light source unit outputs light having a wavelength range corresponding to a coordinate located in an area defined by a contour line indicating a predetermined optical loss amount, in distribution information of the optical loss amount due to absorption of a medium defined in advance, in a space formed by a first coordinate axis showing a representative wavelength and a second coordinate axis showing a wavelength range including the representative wavelength.
