In this optical information recording/reproduction method: when the drive rate of a phase mask changes during recording, the phase of pixel units of signal light is altered in a manner so that the phase change rate of the pixel units is uniform or at least a uniform amount within a page and among pages, by which means an increase in recording multiplexing number resulting from the homogenization of media consumption during angular multiplexed recording and favorable and stable signal recording are achieved; and while moving an optical element, which adds phase information to a light beam containing information of two-dimensional page data, in a direction perpendicular to the optical axis of the light beam, phase information is added to the light beam and the page data is recorded to a recording medium. The optical information recording/reproduction method is characterized in that when recording page data of at least two differing pages, the information is recorded to the recording medium while moving the optical element in a manner so that the speed of the phase change of the light beam at any given position in the region at which the light beam containing the information irradiates the optical element is at a predetermined value, at least a predetermined value, or no greater than a predetermined value. Also provided is an optical information recording/reproduction device applying the method.
