PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power conversion apparatus capable of reducing harmonic waves, and a power conversion method.SOLUTION: A power conversion apparatus 102 comprises a &phgr; command section 402 which outputs a phase difference &phgr; between a P-side arm and an N-side arm in accordance with the cases where M is an odd number and an even number; a&thetas;k commanding device 403 which designates a phase difference command value&thetas;k in such a manner that carrier phases of unit converters of the arms are deviated by 2&pgr;/M every time in accordance with a position (k) of the unit converter within the arm; a carrier wave generation section 404 which generates a carrier wave; and a gate pulse generation section 312 which generates a gate pulse by comparing magnitudes of a corresponding modulation wave and the carrier wave for each unit converter. In accordance with the cases where M is an odd number and an even number, the &phgr; commanding device 402 sets the phase difference &phgr; between the carrier wave of the P-side arm and the carrier wave of the N-side arm, such that output voltage pulses of the P-side arm and the N-side arm are deviated. |
