摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structural vibration damper having a simple structure without any complex valve structure that is easily manufactured and is capable of absorbing earthquake energy by fluid pressure and resilient deformation of a resilient rubber.SOLUTION: This structural vibration damper comprises a cylinder member 2 with closed one end and the other opened end that is fixed to one structure relatively displaced at the time of earthquake; a piston rod 3 fixed to the other structure, extending from the opening of the cylinder member inwardly, arranged to be relatively displaced between it and the cylinder member, having at its extremity end a valve body 6 having an outer diameter that is approximately the same as an inner diameter of the cylinder member and formed with a flow passage 8; and a resilient rubber body 7 fixed to the outer peripheral surface of the piston rod at the rear part of the valve body and the inner wall surface of the cylinder member so as to seal between the cylinder member and the piston rod. The earthquake energy is absorbed by the fluid moving resistance of fluid within the sealed space of the cylinder member through the flow passage formed in the valve body and the resilient deformation of the resilient rubber body in respect to the relative displacement between the cylinder member and the piston rod.</p>
