The present invention appropriately manages the number of times content can be reproduced, in accordance with the reproduction mode. A reproduction device (100) has a plurality of decoding processing units and a plurality of output control units, and carries out the following: synchronized reproduction for reproducing, using at least two output control units, content decoded using one decoding processing unit; and separate reproduction for reproducing, using one output control unit, content decoded using one decoding processing unit. The reproduction device is provided with the following: a number-of-reproductions management unit (184) for managing the number of times content can be reproduced; a reproduction possibility determination unit (181) for, in a case where a content reproduction instruction is given, determining whether separate reproduction is possible or synchronized reproduction is possible, on the basis of the number of times content can be reproduced as managed by the number-of-reproductions management unit; and a reproduction control unit (183) for carrying out, on the basis of the determination results, separate reproduction or synchronized reproduction using the output control unit to which the reproduction instruction was given. The number-of-reproductions management unit subtracts the number of times reproduction can be carried out if separate reproduction is performed, and does not perform subtraction if synchronized reproduction is performed. |
