The invention relates to a rotary mechanical-energy storage unit that employs multiple coil springs made from tempered steel strips. Each of the coils can withstand a large non-permanent deformation caused by an external load, with a high degree of resilience, absorbing energy in the elastic zone thereof. The manner in which the multiple coil springs are connected successively allows a large amount of energy to be stored by combining the loads absorbed by each of the coils and continuing to subject same to non-permanent elastic deformation. The mechanical energy to be stored is loaded and released in a controlled manner by means of the rotation of two ring gears meshed with endless screws actuated by two direct current motors. |
