PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evaluate the range of a heat source as the object of a temperature to be obtained in the case of calculating a temperature from light reception intensity.SOLUTION: Temperature detection method includes: a light reception intensity measurement step of measuring light reception intensity by inserting an optical fiber into an object region; a temperature detection step of converting the light reception intensity obtained by the light reception intensity measurement step into a temperature; a temperature measurement step of measuring a temperature by inserting a temperature sensor into the object region; and a temperature detection distance acquisition step of, on the basis of the light reception intensity obtained by the light reception intensity measurement step and the temperature obtained by the temperature measurement step, obtaining a temperature detection distance indicating a substantial temperature detection object range in the temperature detection step.
