The ultrasonic cleaning step contains: a step for preparing a cleaning machine that comprises a retainer part (31) that retains a solvent (36) and a supply part for supplying the solvent (36) to the retainer part (31); a step for immersing the glass substrate (1G) into the solvent (36) in the retainer part (31); a step for applying an ultrasonic wave to the solvent (36) in which the glass substrate (1G) is immersed; and a step for supplying a new solvent (36) from the supply part after stopping the application of the ultrasonic wave (50), thereby having the new solvent (36) flow over the surface of the glass substrate (1G).
