The present invention relates to an air conditioning system which monitors and controls an air conditioner and visually displays the operation status of the air conditioner. The air conditioning system provides a control device for the air conditioner which enables a user to easily access the air conditioner and visually check and control the operation status of the air conditioner and an operation method thereof. The control device and operation method for the air conditioner according to the present invention varies the method for receiving the data from the air conditioner based on the connection methods according to the types of a connected apparatus and the connection point of the air conditioner and the control device, and outputs the data from the air conditioner in various forms on the screen to display various data according to the different types of the data received by using different method, requires a user to change the connection method according to the needs, and provides various information regarding the air conditioner.
