STENT RETAINING SYSTEMS Abstract A stent delivery system (10) which comprises an elongated inner member defining a longitudinal axis and proximal and distal ends. The inner member (14) including a plurality of projections depending radially outwardly relative to the longitudinal axis. An expandable stent (12) including a plurality of struts (86) and having proximal and distal strut ends (12a, 12b). The stent adapted to transition from a collapsed state to an expanded state. At least some of the strut ends each having an aperture for reception of a cooperating projection of the plurality of projections of the inner member to secure the stent relative to the inner member when the stent is in the collapsed state. A sheath (16) mounted on the inner member (14), the sheath being positionable in a transport position in which the sheath covers the stent to retain the stent in the collapsed state and a deployed position in which the stent is at least partially exposed to permit the stent to transition to the expanded state.
