PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element which has high luminous efficiency, a low driving voltage, and a long service life, and to provide a novel compound, a lighting device, and a display device.SOLUTION: Disclosed is the organic electroluminescent element in which a plurality of organic compound layers (organic EL layers 106) including a light-emitting layer containing a phosphorescent compound are held between an anode (a glass substrate 107 with a transparent electrode) and a cathode 105. In the organic electroluminescent element, at least one of the organic compound layers contains a compound having a specific chemical structure.
