The invention relates to an apparatus and a method for mounting solar cell contact wires, which establish a series connection and which run in a string direction throughout the upper face of a front solar cell wafer and a lower face of a rear solar cell wafer following the front solar cell wafer in a solar cell string to be formed. The apparatus comprises a wire laying mechanical unit comprising a wire feed gripper (GZ) and a wire transport gripper (GT), movable relative to the wire feed gripper in the string direction, which are arranged above a wafer holding device, a wire holding gripper (G2), which grips and holds the contact wires behind the wafer holding position for the rear solar cell wafer, and a wire cutter (2). The wire feed gripper hands the contact wires over to the wire transport gripper once the front solar cell wafer is positioned and before the rear solar cell wafer is positioned, the wire transport gripper advances the contact wires in the string direction to above the wafer holding position for the rear solar cell wafer and the upper face of the front solar cell wafer, the wire holding gripper grips and holds the contact wires behind the wafer holding position for the rear solar cell wafer and the wire cutter then cuts the contact wires behind the wire holding gripper. |
