<p>Unsaturated nitriles are produced from C3-6 olefins by passing an admixture thereof with ammonia and optionally an inert gas at elevated temperature (e.g., 300 DEG C.-600 DEG C.) over an As/Bi/Mo oxide catalyst identical with that described in Specification 881,335. Inert gases specified are N2, CO2, H2O vapour, saturated hydrocarbons or mixtures of these. In examples, acrylonitrile-containing some acetonitrile-is obtained from propylene and ammonia, using a fluidised catalyst which is regenerated with air in the reactor or in a separate regenerator.</p> |
