Disclosed is a system for preventing the sudden acceleration of a vehicle that prevents sudden acceleration in advance and can halt an engine forcibly when sudden acceleration occurs, by enabling the position of a throttle valve to be adjusted via the composition of a pure mechanical control device not including electrical and electronic function. The present invention provides a system for preventing the sudden acceleration of a vehicle, comprising: a throttle valve installed at a predetermined position of an intake pipe to adjust air amount being supplied to an engine; a control part for adjusting the position (opening amount) of the throttle valve via electrical and electronic control signals; a manipulation lever installed at a predetermined position inside a vehicle for a mode to be selected by a driver; and a cable link for connecting the manipulation lever and the throttle valve. The position (opening amount) of the throttle valve is adjusted by the selection of a mode by the manipulation lever that is transmitted to the cable link during engine start or sudden acceleration.
