The present invention relates to a semiconductor memory device which can stably perform a refreshing operation, and provides a semiconductor memory device including: a pre-charge detection unit for detecting whether a plurality of word lines included in a cell array are in a pre-charging state at a time point when a refresh command is input; a pre-charging unit for pre-charging the plurality of word lines according to the detection result of the pre-charge detection unit; and a refreshing unit for refreshing the word lines, which is to be refreshed, of the plurality of word lines in response to a refresh command and an output signal of the pre-charge detection unit.
