The present invention provides a battery module which includes a unit module assembly including unit modules which have unit battery cells or a plurality of cell assemblies, each of which has at least two battery cells, and are arranged adjacently to each other, and electrode terminals arranged on one surface thereof; battery disconnection units (BDUs) arranged on one side surface of the unit module assembly and having terminal connection parts arranged on the same surface as the electrode terminals; a module case in which the unit modules of the unit module assembly are installed and which opens a portion corresponding to electrode terminal portions of the unit modules; a bus bar assembly having a cover plate formed of an electric insulating material and installed at electrode terminal portions of the unit modules in the module case and at least two bus bars included in the cover plate.
