PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide good color characteristics and to obtain excellent alkali developing properties and high contrast when constituting a color filter. SOLUTION: There is provided a pigment dispersing composition containing a pigment and a polymer compound represented by general formula (2) [wherein R<SP POS="POST">3</SP>: (m+n)-valent organic linking group; R<SP POS="POST">4</SP>and R<SP POS="POST">5</SP>: each independently a single bond or a divalent organic linking group; A<SP POS="POST">2</SP>: a monovalent organic group containing at least one moiety selected from the group having an organic coloring matter structure, a heterocyclic structure, an acidic group or a basic nitrogen atom, a urea group, a urethane group, a group having a coordinating oxygen atom, a hydrocarbon group having 4 or more carbon atoms, an alkoxysilyl group, an epoxy group, an isocyanate group and a hydroxyl group and having an adsorption ability to pigments; m=1 to 8, n=2 to 9 (m+n=3 to 10); and P<SP POS="POST">2</SP>: a polymer backbone].
