The method involves determining a value representative of a transfer function of modulation (201) and of a signal report on noise of a portion of a set of images. A signal representative of the portion of the set of images obtained from a set of detectors belonging to a same optical sensor is detected, where the representative value depends on the number of signals to be summed. A research is performed (202) on the number of signals to be summed, and on the time required for maximizing the representative value. An independent claim is also included for a system for real-time determination of a number of signals to be summed.
