PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detergent composition which has a small load to the environment and is effective for removing silicone staining and a cleaning method effective for removing silicone staining. SOLUTION: The detergent composition for silicone staining contains a compound represented by the formula: R<SP>1</SP>-O-(R<SP>2</SP>O)<SB>n</SB>-R<SP>3</SP>(wherein R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>3</SP>are each a 1-8C hydrocarbon group; R<SP>2</SP>is a 2-4C hydrocarbon group; n is a number of 1-20) as component (A) and an anionic surface active agent as component (B).
